But with new challenges in the classroom around AI use and how the newer generations interact with the world and each other, are they enough?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-gray-dark-color has-text-color has-18-font-size\" id=\"ember1966\">Experiential learning\u2014learning by doing\u2014transforms how students engage with course material. Instead of passively absorbing information, students <strong>apply concepts, make decisions, and see the real-world impact of their choices.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-primary-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-faf9206b6da4a1f7997b85b30b6c7b2a\" id=\"ember1967\">Why does this matter?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-list-plus has-18-font-size\" id=\"ember1968\">Experiential learning encourages active participation, putting students in the driver&#8217;s seat and giving them a sense of ownership over their education. <strong>By applying knowledge in practical ways, students engage multiple regions of their brains, increasing their cognitive engagement with the material<\/strong>. Additionally, experiential learning also engages students emotionally, making the learning feel more authentic. And finally, <strong>it helps students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and other practical skills through experiential learning<\/strong>, which can increase their engagement as they see the relevance of their studies to real-world applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading alignwide has-primary-color has-text-color\" id=\"ember1969\">Examples of experiential learning include:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-list-plus has-18-font-size\">\n<li class=\"has-gray-dark-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-9aa1ed6523936cb5000581f1132c0a4d\"><strong>Work in Learning (WIL) or Internships<\/strong>: Students participate in supervised work experiences related to their field of study, often in professional settings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-gray-dark-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-fe2ca1f33e0369defcd2b7514de96240\"><strong>Service-learning:<\/strong> This involves community-based learning where students engage in activities that address community needs while applying their academic knowledge.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-gray-dark-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-fa34b4dfd07020a75f1488cad158f004\"><strong>Undergraduate research:<\/strong> Students conduct research projects under faculty supervision, developing inquiry skills and contributing to their field of study.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-gray-dark-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-d03280bb7a458ac6bbd54c66dd99591c\"><strong>Field work and field schools:<\/strong> These involve hands-on investigation and analysis in real-world settings related to the student&#8217;s area of study.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-gray-dark-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1d45dc2de19e6eb5c382a163a866a93a\"><strong>Simulations and role-playing<\/strong>: students are immersed in real-world scenarios\u2014running a company, managing budgets, making strategic decisions\u2014all within a risk-free environment. It\u2019s <strong>learning that sticks<\/strong> because it\u2019s learning that\u2019s <strong>lived.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:16px\" aria-hidden=\"true\"
